Gustav Horstkötter was assigned POW Number 37310 upon capture, and was released from captivity in February 1947.

Gustav Horstkötter with his wife Änne Horstkötter at a reunion of the U-35 crew. They had met and became engaged before the war. They were married by proxy (he as a POW in Canada, she in Germany) in 1941. [54]
