U-35 crewmember Johannes Martin

Johannes Martin was born on 02.04.1915 in Tondern (modern Denmark). 

He served on board U-35 in 1937-1938.

U-35 on New Year's Day, 1939, in Spain (probably El Ferrol) during the Spanish Civil War. On the dock: Gottlob Wilhelm Fischer, unknown, Walter Arnaschus, Johannes Martin. He later served on board U-31 and became a prisoner of war on 02 November 1940. He was assigned POW Number 60969.

Johannes Martin passed away on 26 August 1986 after a career in the Deutsche Bundesbahn.
He is survived by his daughter Monika Neumann, who is a major contributor to this website.

On 10 April 2004, the German newspaper Kreiszeitung Wesermarsch included an article about U-35 and U-31 that focused on Johannes Martin
