U-35 guest Hans-Georg von Friedeburg

Hans-Georg von Friedeburg was born on 15 July 1895 in Strassburg, Alsace, Germany. He joined the Kaiserliche Marine in 1914 (Crew 14). He was Watch Officer on SMU-114 June 1918-November 1918. He continued to serve in the Reichsmarine after the First World War. In 1938, while he was on staff commanding the naval forces operating in Spain, he wanted to re-familiarize himself with the operation of a U-Boat, so he briefly became a guest on board U-35.

He committed suicide on 23 May 1945. He had been awarded the Knight's Cross on 17 January 1945.
