U-35 crewmember Alfred Hornickel

Alfred Hornickel was born on 12 December 1910 in Plauen and joined the Reichsmarine on 01 November 1929. He served on board U-35 from its commissioning on 03 November 1936, until 14 February 1939.

He is probably recognizable in this photo:

He served on U-105 from 10 September 1940 until 30 September 1942, and later on U-154.  He received the Iron Cross 2nd Class on 13 June 1941, and the Iron Cross 1st Class on 18 December 1941.
